No Longer HereA Poem by Ralph Proenza (Docralph)65 Million Years ago ...
No Longer Here…
The huge carnivore was out on a hunt Sniffing for meat or a near-by grunt. Anything live he could simply devour Leisurely, now and through the hour.
He was the one the others feared To the chase, he was always geared. His menu varied from short to tall Any critter he found he could easily maul.
Triceratops was one of the best, It’s tasty ham and, oh, the breast! Those jagged teeth could gnash and rip Any carcass he could whip.
‘Rex’ was the king that no one beat Some had tried and became his treat. The jungle was his whole domain Despite his very tiny brain.
Wait, what’s that thing up in the sky … A ball of fire that can fly? It was coming now at its face! No place to run in any case.
The burning ball came down on water Creatures killed, both sons and daughter. The sky went dark from broiling mass Instead of air there was choking gas.
With smoke and ash thrown everywhere Could not breathe -- there was no air! A stampede -- broken neck -- a SNAP! Alas, extinction’s here -- OH CRAP! Θ Θ Θ
