All Is Vanity

All Is Vanity

A Poem by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

Musing

"

All Is Vanity

All is vanity.

My labor

My efforts

My best work

All is vanity.

A vapor

A wisp

A puff

All is vanity.

Love

Friendship

Remorse

All is vanity

Work

Rest

Play

All is vanity.

No thing will add time

No thing will last

No thing will remain

All is vanity save one thing,

The wise king said,

Serving God

Vainglorious efforts to produce wealth

Vainglorious efforts to win friends

Vainglorious efforts to achieve fame

Vainglorious efforts to receive love

All is vanity

Save one thing.

This is like something from the Bible in it's truth and wisdom. All is vanity, those simple words which you repeat throughout are just so true. It's like that story about putting your hand in a bucket of water and thinking you make an impression. As soon as you take your hand out, the water fills in like you never there.

All is vanity.

Oh! I thought this was Roberts poem, I see its doc's poem. All is vanity... I guess when all is said and done and we are in the ground, long gone from this place and time... Yep... everything we have done is lost, however, if we have taught our children well and lived a life that was an example of good character, then we have left a piece of us... I don't think in vain. I liked the stanza where the King says all is vain except "Serving God" We strive to get to Heaven, all our treasures rest there not here. This is an excellent piece of work to put out and have people think! I know reading this made me stop and say... yeah, so true. I liked the down to earth just say wording! Love it! Send me more.
