Some People

A Chapter by Dave "Doc" Rogers

Another observation of human moments...

"

Just when I think I have a handle on things along comes someone who jerks the chain of humanity backwards. Bigotry and prejudice [pre-judging before all of the facts are in] are twins, yet not identical. They are not exclusive to race, creed, color, religion... et cetera. Some people are so convinced they are right they refute anything other than what 'they' know [cognate, think, ascertain, come-up-with-in-their-thinker].

Ignorance is the enemy of intelligent people.

What do you mean by that? I am glad I asked that for you. Ignorance means lack of knowledge. It doesn't mean someone is incapable of learning or knowing more. The problem comes when someone 'thinks' they know rather than 'think' they know. On the one hand, they 'think' as in guess or just decide they are right. On the other hand they 'think' - cognify, use their brain, test, confirm, weigh comparatives - then they know to a degree of certainty.

I have a friend who thinks therefore there is no other answer. Very frustrating when his personal experience with something similar in name but is not now is given the associative 'it is' because it sounds like it should be the same. And when confronted with 'copy/paste' from credible source documentation with a link to confirm and using simplest English skills analyze the verbiage ... and yet, my friend still holds that his knowledge is superior.

So, I feel I must research the subject more fully, show referential data [yuck... bibliographies], and prose out an argument exposing the truth of the subject matter ... of course not as I would suppose it is but by using basic English skills and presented data from credible sources.

It is an exercise in futility b/c he is hard headed or just going a long way around the block to irritate me b/c he knows I will do this... yes, I am that cynical. :P

So... some people ... they just don't get it. The house is occupied. I can see someone is moving around in there but ... the light is not on. :(

Cheers!
Doc.
