Did It Hurt?

Did It Hurt?

A Poem by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

Venom poetry actually delivered circa 1989.

"

Did it hurt? Did it make you cry?

Were you mad? Did you sigh?

It's what I did when rejection was nigh.

I've hurt. I've cried.

Many times I've sighed.

You may think I've lied.

I needed you. Yes, I did.

Do you think I kid?

You closed my heart, pot with lid.

One needs love, affection too.

Fun is fun, oh to woo.

But, I am me and you are you.

You may no longer care.

Love, you no longer dare.

But, I can only be me, this I swear.

Author's Note

Dave "Doc" Rogers
Venom poetry written in the moment. Not my best work but very emotionally tied. It won't change.

I feel your frustration ring out on this page. Poignant words with a direct closure. I enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for sharing!

I felt longing for the subject matter to change yet it could not for one reason or another. Well expressed - I am afraid we have all been here at one point or another. Thank you.

I can feel the emotion in this piece. I felt heartbrake and anger, yet there was nothing that could have been done- helplessness.
