Busy Bee

Busy Bee

A Poem by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

Ramblings in the midst of busy-ness

"

Busy Bee

by Doc Rogers

Busy bee

The hive is astir

Constant whirring of wings

Endless pursuit of 'to do'

Motion for motion's sake

To stop is to end life

Motion has meaning

'To do' is the mantra

More than one can do

Yet more is required

Busy bee

Black and yellow harbinger

Walls of amber colored honey

Cells requiring maintenance oft

"Go. Do. Return. Go. Do. Return..."

The aristocracy of elders demanding

Insights they only see

"Do this." "Why can't you see it? I do."

Days become weeks become months

A blur of empty activity

Freedom from the hive is desired

Except, there is no freedom

To escape is death

Symbiotic synergy demands

Life is in the hive

Oh, wondering wasp, longing to be

Open airs, no hive demands

Only survival and the next field

No one pressing

No one buzzing do this or else

Busy bee, no longer needed

Busy bee pushed from the hive

Survival was dependent on them

Now alone, must die

Busy bee, where is thy business?

Chrysalis

Morph

Transform

Change

Grow

Busy bee, ever busy

Never seeing time beyond

Never time beyond 'to do'

Busy bee, just do

Busy bee, just do

Oh my goodness. This is a picture of life and a darn good one. This also serves as a confirmation of sorts to me.
One just never know what God will use to get his point across. I have been on a two week vacation that was much needed. Thanks for sharing Doc. It was nice to see one of your pieces in my file. Hope all is well with you. :)

Oh how we can all relate to this feeling of going through the motion but never knowing why. You captured that sense perfectly. As we seem to find ourselves to often feeling like just a bee working for someone else.

Great Job!!!

Glad to see you write again

a perfect analogy of our pointless doings. We are always in "motion for motion's sake". Great line. You've expressed this beautifully. Awsome!

Mans survival depends on the Busy Bee, for without we would have low plant, fruit and vegetable life. Nice to hear from a long ago writer, I hope to read more. Excellent write.

What a great analogy, and so true. Each bee has a job...no thinking...just do...and do, until it is worthless. This piece has an eerie feel to it. It hit's so close to home. Great piece. Rain..

Man, I just loved this piece. It made me think of how as a people we are now working ourselves into such early graves. And all we can do is watch it slowly happen. Great write!
