Upon The Velvet Skyline

Upon The Velvet Skyline

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black
"

Upon the velvet skyline....

"

        Upon the velvet skyline
The lightning flashed in rage
The thunder rumbled, deep and low
Like a beast caught in a cage

The raindrops fell like tears
Weeping heavens, open'd
The howling wind tore at my skin
As I walked alone

Tormented by the whispers
The leaves in the tree's, they laughed
Raindrops mixed with salty tears
If they only knew my past

To my knees I fell
To the Heavens, I raised my arms
I screamed to a deity that didn't care
And he struck me down

As I lay weak and broken
In a pool of tears and lies
I contemplated my path of life
And all I'll leave behind

Upon the velvet skyline
A silhouette is etched
I took the blows, with marks to show
But still I'm standing proud

This one rhymed really well and I think, again, the ending was very strong. Your imagery is also great in this poem.
