Weep For The Not Yet Dead

Weep For The Not Yet Dead

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black

As the night withdrew
With a blood red hue
Vestal virgins
Screamed their cursed tones
A cold, dead truth

And the serpent hissed
Cupid's arrow missed
Vitriolic
Melancholic
Was her moon kissed skin

In ethereal tones
Animal groans
Catatonic
Embryonic
We come as one

It was catastrophe
When she came to me
I was forgiven
as she delivered
A heart in atrophy

I've heard it often said
In books I've never read
Spare me your pity
Shed no tears for me
Weep for the not yet dead
