What I was

What I was

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black
"

What I was....

"
Incarcerated deep within
Thoughts of tomorrow
Burning deep inside
Like the embers of passion

Scorching into my very heart
Twisting, turning
Ashes of dreams once cherished
Now left to blow on the sighs of remorse

Tears, escaping to tell a tale
Blood pumps to an unfunctioning heart
While I go on
But never feel
What I was......

A heart once alive and full of hope now dead
as the rest of the body wanders ainlessly toward death
'Ashes of dreams once cherished
Now left to blow on the sighs of remorse'
Great lines there, and lots of regret in this one
Very concise and well done
