Opium For My Soul

Opium For My Soul

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black

Last night in my dreams...
echoes of what seemed to be
The lull of the softly
whispers that drown me in sleep
Harvests of twilight, celestial scholars
Continual themes lead to incessant change
The futures despair entangled
In ancient past's long reign
What, what is lost, we'll never know
Because how can we grasp the knowledge of lost worlds
Questions, of their long lost unwanted
Theories of maddening unknowns
Shadows soccour in their darkest rooms
Exposed in this release from reality
Laying in state, in a wake, the scenery unfolds
A mind marked by the subastral
I scream in the harmony of my chaotic breath
Timeless, winds carried away my tonal
Pictures painted in thought
What I can't shut out
Ill with sleep
Silence steals from the night
Dreaming is the needle, injecting
Opium for my soul
