yet you sip your wine quickly

when you have nowhere else to be

yet you light another cigarette

as your hands begin shivering

waiting for me to tell you something

move closer to look into your eyes

before you turn your head away

and you flinch when I touch your hands

to take your lighter and set it between

the empty glass and the ashtray

after you turn back to me

because you see something
