Get AwayA Poem by Danny LauA poem about leaving New York and moving to the countryGet Away Refrain I've dreamed of leaving this land for years I could feel the country in me Ever since I heard country in my ears The rush of life in the North today Makes me want to get away Verse 1 Living in a big house up here ain’t all it’s cracked up to
be Life moves way too fast to enjoy simply It seems like no one stops to smell the roses The fruits of your labor are wasted When there is no time to soak it in Verse 2 Grand living comes with a price You’re expected to be so much But some people can’t deal with the grind Of living up here in the north
Verse 3 I gotta go south of the Mason Dixon Where everything slows down And it seems so simple to live Down in the land of Conway Twitty And where the women just seem so pretty Verse 4 Rubber on dirt seems oh so free I wanna see my baby’s hair gettin messed up in the breeze With some Zac Brown comin through the static It puts me in some high spirits Verse 5 This New York traffic is gettin under my skin I gotta find some roads that are twistin Nash FM has made me realize That the south is callin my name © 2014 Danny Lau |
