Songs of the Dark

Deep inside of me,

At the back of my mind,

Resides a nasty creature

Very difficult to hide.

But from time to time,

It comes out to play.

If I want control

There is no other way.

It walks with my legs,

Speaks with my voice,

And I must play along

There is no other choice.

But you see, this is me

In my only true form

I am mean, I am bad

This is how I was born.

 I might appear nice,

But don't get it twisted.

If you happen to die

Will be like you never existed.

After reading your well penned piece this came to mind; an 'alter ego' (Latin, "the other I") is a second self, which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or original personality. Nice write .. :-)
