The Spell

The Spell

A Poem by Jessica Lima

Sing me a song,

and make me forget.

If I start to wake,

Whisper... 'Not Yet'

Caress my crown,

And cherish my curls.

Wrap it on your finger,

Softly so it twirls.

Don't hold your tears,

Let them roll down,

Or feel the pain...

as your lungs drown.

Time can be funny

Too short or too long

It all depends

On who sings the song.

So sing me to sleep

And sing me to wake

Don't ever be silent

or the spell shall break.

'Cus if I remember

What you made me forget

There will be the pain

So whisper...'Not Yet'.

This poem is spellbinding and so relatable it hurt. Technically Superb as always, but this piece hit too personally for to offer a technical review. If I could craft such a spell, I surely would. I have known such spell casters, but when they left, they took the magic with them. I felt this one bone deep. Thank you for the expression of what my heart refuses to utter.

I am glad I am able to connect with the reader. I had a lullaby in mind when I wrote this. :)

Awww. You are so sweet. :) I'll check some of your work later too.
This is solemn, this is profound, this is amazing! Well done!! That repetition of "Not yet" is gold!

O...M...G! I was already hooked by the title and picture, and once I read it, I was triple hooked and enjoyed it very much! I was engaged from the beginning, the words flew well and even the rhymes made sense
Especially the repetition was good,
"There will be the pain
So whisper...'Not Yet'.

One of my favourites :)

Keep it up!

About
I'm kind of a big dork. Very, VERY geeky. I love poetry, and that's 90% of what I write. Life is chaos, and Poetry... isn't. It is something you can control, that's why my poetry always rhymes. I love.. more..
