![]() AlexA Poem by Jessica LimaThe sun shone upon her, From behind the glass window. Our eyes would meet, Our words would greet, This Blondie was no bimbo! One day I thought to ask: "How did you end up here?' Her smile fell Her eye began to swell I should have let her be. "My family was all kinds of broken, words between me and father were rarely spoken, Till he became very ill" "He used to beat mom and I So much that we run away. We lived in fear, holding it dear Till a certain day" "We heard he had gotten sick, I found it in my heart to forgive; And as he lay in bed I cried... and held my dad." "For the first time he cried too And I understood that it was true. Good people do horrible things When they battle demons that live within." "The doctors had to amputate his leg. On my knees, to God, I started to beg For that to be the last of it My strength, at its end, as well as my wit." "God must not have listened to me My dad had not very long to live. That was basically all I could take Anymore and my mind would break." "With great anguish I came here to hide Hoping ,one day, my pain would subside." When she was done with her story Her tears were completely gone. She had to keep the pain locked away She learned to bear it all on her own. In time I saw her get better A true smile across her face But people with a past like ours Are as fragile as delicate lace. © 2017 Jessica LimaAuthor's Note

Life is chaos, and Poetry... isn't. It is something you can control, that's why my poetry always rhymes. I love.. more..Writing
