The TaleA Poem by Jessica LimaI rested my head on her lap As she started the tale. Even strangers came around strengthening the stench of ale. "A certain month out of the year, he turns into a man- and seduce the ladies who never run, while they still can-" I make circles with me finger right at the top of her knee Then she smiles and I can tell That she is worried about me. "He procreates then he is gone- And we all here have heard the song- Of the women he left alone- Crying, dying Hopes torn." When I become a woman It isn't a happy day Scared for my fate My grandma sends me away. The tale of dolphin That turns into a man Shakes my fragile world And that I cannot stand. I returned home once And saw him for myself Beautiful as he was Couldn't be anyone else. I turn away and start to run He follows me at top speed When I struggle against his hold Suddenly I feel there is no need. Looking into his eyes I saw That I did not have to run My own flesh meant me no harm And so we hugged under the sun. This man was with my mother Their love wasn't meant to be Fish must live in the water but at least they had me. © 2017 Jessica LimaReviews

Life is chaos, and Poetry... isn't. It is something you can control, that's why my poetry always rhymes. I love.. more..Writing
