The Once Defeated Queen

The Once Defeated Queen

A Poem by Jessica Lima

My power grows ever  strong

This fact no one can ever deny.

What once was broken inside me

Is now mended and wants to fight.

Those who love me will suffer...

I'm taking back my throne.

My heart, center of my kingdom

Wants me to rule all alone.

Haha this sounds like a fight!
A hurt but resolved Queen yet a self-centred character - hard to love methinks. Many through history have felt this way and history has begrudgingly admired their gumption but condemned their ways.
(Queen Elizabeth I, Marie Antoinette, Bloody Queen Mary)
This is a fierce piece - a fine piece.

I think that last line is perfect, all that strength and power claimed before and in that last line a sliver of vulnerability, just perfect!
