Control

Control

A Poem by K.m Smith

Slow

The path ahead is threatening.

One turn from disaster;

one swerve to the edge.

Slip

Feeling enlightened.

Euphoria takes over.

Begging for a release.

Heart beating in your throat.

Intensity

Daggers on the tip of your tongue.

Animosity flowing;

This is an outrage!

You KNOW what's meant to be.

Speed

Moving faster;

Hold your breath.

You're vulnerable.

Let go.

The next move is critical.

Collision

Aftershock.

Take in what's left.

Inhale strength,

& exhale fury.

It's only skin & bone.

Relief

Anger subside,

Pounding slow.

For this moment

you're in control.
