A day in Marriage

A day in Marriage

A Poem by Divyani

I made a cup of coffee,

I watched it getting Cold,

It slipped through the time untold,

Like the union with my man,

In the flick of the sight.

Amused and distraught,

With aloofness and indifference,

 I held me with abhorrence,

As I forsook the ineluctable,

for the mundane quests.

I stared at the cup again,

Hoping for a taste bearable,

With a fret in me immeasurable,

In tremors, I reached for it,

Venturing for the unsure.

Then a habitual warmth,

Bewitched me with admiration,

Quilting my dubious cavitation,

I turned to my man,

Who held a hot cup of coffee,

in his hand.

It all seems to work out in the end if you allow it to. Some many expect roses the day the bush is planted...thing take time, marriage takes time...I really enjoy this and seeing the hot cup of coffee at the end.

Never could make a serious commitment, let alone contemplate marriage. Not even after meeting that 'special' someone..
Back when the thought of a partner was welcome in my mind, everything was about the thrills and the same one person can only give so much of that when every chance we've had was spent on the fun..

I have no idea what a serious relationship is like.. And I honestly don't want to know.

Nowadays seeing another human being is tolerable every once in a while, but for the most part I wouldn't mind living on a desolate planet haha

But that's just me.. Anyhow, I don't really know anything about poetry.. But this was nicely written.

Divyani,
So many shades, touches, awareness and connections thru one sketch of coffee! As in Marriage…
Thank you for these senses

I really enjoyed this poem and threw up such a myriad of images and impressions at the first read. Marriage is a union full of so many emotions and feelings. It is tough to put one's finger on just one. Well done!

You're most welcome Divyani.
Communal, caffeine creativity with just a little fleeting bitterness, though reassuringly on the whole the taste is ever comforting just as is love between hubby & wife here sharing timeout together ..
