Carry on

Carry on

A Poem by Divenire

Dear Love,

Give a moment please,
to release the world from my back
I've been dragging around this hope
but mine is along the railroad tracks
looking for a sign
it decided to carry on without me
I didn't mean to rush into everything
now you're the only one I could find

So please
don't say, "This is really happening" because I know
and holding on isn't enough when you're lost and alone
I have no place to go
and I'm looking for you to carry me home.

See I've been trying to forget
but I can't remember what it cost
or how many times I paid to cover up the lie
that tore us both apart
and I know I swore I wouldn't write you down as just another line I'd forget
but I can hear the cry of hope in the distance
I'm just far to lost to listen

So please
don't say, "This is really happening" because I know
and holding on just isn't enough when you're lost and alone
I have no place to go
and I'm looking for you to carry on.
