For a change...

For a change...

A Story by Dipanjan Dutta
"

Change is needed, the sooner it comes the better...

"

Lazy legs properly synced with the confused steps, into the bathroom over the basin, flushing out everything. Hands numb, somehow under the tap, gathering water, splashing on the face.

The clock ticked still for moments.

Legs somewhat strong, steps determined a bit, vision hazy, into the kitchen, shaky hands holding the plate. Fork out of grip, food unwilling but placed into the mouth.

The clock ticked still for moments.

Deep sigh, tears rolling out, eyelids closed, falling asleep some time unknown.

She had enough practice of these and could have done the same today as well. But she needed a change.

Smile on her face, cheeks stained of dried tears, eyes open, the red dripping down her forehead along the curves, she sat with her back against the wall " still for every moment to come.

The clock ticked on…

…and on.

This could be a story of many women who suffer abuse everyday. You portray things with such vivid imagination taking minute details into account is quite commendable. Keep writing your style I see a great future writer in you. You would not find hard time finding your publisher, keep improving your craft. :)

Thanks Avinash for such kind words...they are encouraging truly
I liked the imagery here. Very vivid. It has a different ending.. blood drips from her forehead yet there is a ile on her face. Mystic yet optimistic ending. Life is bleeding on the thorns..nice work

Truer words have never been spoke. Change; the only constant. Your writing paints an excellent picture of this. It really captures the feeling of being in a situation where change is so needed, yet elusive. I love the line "still for every moment to come"...Great write

I feel her pain. Your word choice is precise, which is always refreshing. The passage as a whole actually made me very sad for her. It seems like she is going through the motions but she is harboring a lot of pain. The ending left me hoping that a positive change will occur for her. Nice piece, and great understanding of emotional wounds. My only complain is that there needs to be a continuation.
