Alive AgainA Poem by Luis Gabrieli havent written in a long time. i needed this even if its not my best its a matter of getting back into the swing of things.I have not seen life for a long time, I seem to have withered and died. I cry out in Starvation at night, as bats call and lizard’s slither Snaking easily and almost breazily between crevices.
I moan and creak dried up and tired from Lack of renewing rain. I am a dry blast of Spirit dancing speedily and playfully across the Cracked earth.
I danced and played, hurtling across the Terrain Procrastinating only for a while to caress the twisted Scorched skeleton of what was once a tree. I slow Lazily and swirl around the sand dunes.
I carry it on me, the scent of life, It is coming it is in me I can feel it and taste it in the deer’s tongue as it laps up Water from a nearby pool. I can pound it, as I became the Lion’s Paws thundering on the ground. It was coming.
Broiling black clouds of mercy quieted the cruel sun, I was the jackal’s feral smile, I knew it was coming. Thunder, Boomed and sonically smashed the heavens. Yes, I was the Cheetah’s scar tissue, the pain announced its arrival.
Lightning flashed mightily across the horizon, heralding the Great mercy of God. It was time. I was a hawk’s pinion Cutting and shifting wind as I willed, escape was essential For I knew, it would soon arrive.
It began with a glistening drop of life that fell its long distance From the sky, I was it. I fell free but I knew it was with great Purpose as I smashed into molecules and inhaled by The Parched and tired earth.
I was not alone. My family, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, And ancestors all followed careening down sent by God on a mission Of self-sacrifice in order to allow the survival of mother earth. I was The cool rock sizzling with satisfaction as I was cooled by these free-fallers.
The rain poured, the thunder crashed, and the lightning did its split second Magic trick as I smiled with satisfaction. I was but the now cool spirit Dancing happily beneath pregnant clouds pushing the rain in every which Way. I was the earth; I was the wind… I was alive again. © 2008 Luis GabrielAuthor's Note
