The Black PyramidA Story by 39WafflesA couple archaeologists travel through an Egyptian desert in search for a for something called the "Black Pyramid" and end up making a huge discovery after a small argument.
William and Joan walked through the barren ocean-less beach that was the desert side by side, one occasionally moving ahead of the other, whether because one was slowing down or the other speeding up slightly. They'd been walking for about an hour now, searching for a something people called the "Black Pyramid." The heat was starting to get to William. He looked down at his compass and the map they'd been given and studied it for a moment before realizing they were just a few feet from the spot the "Black Pyramid" was supposed to be. But it wasn't there.
"It's supposed to be right here," William said, his throat dry from the scorching heat. "Then were is it?" Joan replied, clear frustration in her voice. "Maybe we went east instead of west, or went too far one way, or something--" "Or maybe none of this's real." Joan cut William off. "Look at this map," William said, shoving the map towards Joan aggressively. "Would people really put this much effort into a map for nothing; to fool a couple people from America?" Joan took the map and looked at it. "This doesn't look like it would take a lot of effort to make, you idiot," she spat back. "Well, how would some people from a town or village, or whatever the f**k it was, contact a university all the way in America to get a couple of archaeologists to come to Egypt and try to find something that doesn't exist in the middle of a desert; I think if they wanted us to die they would've just shot us as soon as we arrived. Plus, it seems rather unlikely that some people would get the entirety of a large community to play along with their scheme to fool a pair of idiots into trying to find something that doesn't exist in the middle of a desert," William argued. "I don't care about this anymore," replied Joan as if she hadn't heard most of what William had just said. "I have the map now and if you don't want to be lost out here, I suggest you come with me." "I'm staying here." Joan began to walk off. "I don't care." William walked the few feet to where the Black Pyramid was supposed to be and planted his foot in the sand as if to make his lack of intentions of leaving more clear. He knew in his mind that he was going to find this Black Pyramid one way or another. He dug his foot into the sand as if to make his lack of intentions of leaving more clear, starting to have second thoughts about his decision. His foot then came to rest on a cold, hard object. He quickly pulled his foot out of the sand and saw a black piece of what appeared to be metal for the briefest of moments. Then a large black, metal square object began rising out of the sand. William quickly moved from his position as to not be carried up wards by the object. The thing immediately stopped rising after what seemed to be the whole thing was above the sand. A green glowing ring formed on the center of the side facing William and Joan with a deep hum. Then, the object began to rise again. This time, it had a pyramid attached to the bottom. The sides were completely flat, looking as if they were made up of plates, green lines traced the edges of the pyramid and came to an end at the corners of the cube placed at the top of the massive shape. The massive structure emitted a low hum from no clear source. The Black Pyramid had risen from the ground, as if the sand it now sat on had rejected it. "I told you it was real," William said.
