Spit in the Face of a Cop, Followed by a Harsh Arrest

Spit in the Face of a Cop, Followed by a Harsh Arrest

A Poem by k.d. taylor

Midnight rings like a bell,
The ocean is drunk.

The trash can is overflowing,
Our shoes are gushing mud,
Lungs gushing smoke.

Sitting on the side of the road,
Sirens and lights crash into the scene.
A balding man swerving around,
Inspiring panic, Inspired by the bees.

A short conversation,
Then an attack against the
Public Blue.

Violence,
Heads nearly cracking
Dirty windshields.

Shine bright,
Silver bracelets,
Protecting rights and wrongs (lefts)
Protecting no and yes.
