![]() With your La-Dee-Da-HandsA Poem by k.d. taylor![]() A poem from my self-published collection "(interrobang) lament for lost time" available here: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/straydogblues![]() With
your La-Dee-Da hands, With
your hopscotch hairdo, -You’ve
got my attention. And
you’ve heard ‘bout my bad “reputation” -With
open arms We
don’t care, No,
not anymore.
But!
Button up, We’re
going out. Do
you take coffee or tea? She
won't take anything Unless
it belongs to me.
You
aren’t helping my sanity. I’ll
be deaf, dumb, and happy before long.
But,
please, pay no mind to this: (disregard
these parentheses) It’s
okay to goof off sometimes (in
the setting indigo sun) It’s
okay to forget the opium struggle (track
marks leading over the edge- he
keeps the syringe behind the fridge) It’s
okay to forget how to spell (in luv,
in space) It’s
okay to be more than okay (X) ------------- Strike
a match, Go on
strike, Put
your arms down, Take
a dive, And
let’s have a skyscraper sing along, Lets
sing-song, Lets
ring a bell. Ding-Dong. Shh… You’ve
got it all wrong. ------------- All
of the stars are drunk, Alcohol, Paranormal,
pretty penny. I’ve
got no money. (X)
try again. All
of the stars are drunk, And
the both of us? In
love. I’m
hot, But
you’re cold to the touch. In a
happy/strange way, We’ll
kiss, And recreate
a lukewarm fantasy. Sometimes, You
can find youth in the playfulness of a dream, It’s
not so hard, it’s so easy, To
find peace with you, In
pieces of you, All
of you. “To
find love in a beautiful day dream” © 2014 k.d. taylor |
