Ambiance

Ambiance

A Poem by Dina

There's something about freshman year of college that I long to return to
The cold weather burning my finger tips
An infinity scarf that chokes me gently, but lovingly
Cozy stares from peers and curious neighbors
The ambience of a dorm room
And how it transforms with a few acoustic guitar sessions and a star projector

And the touches
Curious touches
That felt sinister, the way they made me nervous
A pure embrace
Starting with the caress of the face
Then the touch of a finger

Words that linger
Lips that quiver
Dead trees illuminating the bitterness of winter
Hands that keep me warm
Eagerness that swarms you

Being compared to art in the presence of an artist
Sharing strongholds in common
Lobbying and advocacy demonstrating sincere empathy
Telepathic thoughts from the one you trust most
Tainted by lust
That's nearly innocent enough
Because we're still uncertain
Too foolish to comprehend the true burdens of waking life.

This is well written. I see many contradictions in the content about freshman year. I can definitely relate. I was so green then. So unsure. So weak. Such a hothead. This one got me thinking. I'm much more humble now.
