Lost in the whim

I aim for a win this time

As I pedal in the middle of the concrete jungle

Thoughts of you linger in my mind

Hair tucked in a bun

Music blasting

This nothingness has become a form of fasting

A meditative distraction.

I pass by the Hudson River,

Waiting to be delivered

From the strongholds that helped me lose value in your eyes

I haven't time to cry

Cause the seagulls fly high in the sky

Echoing the secrets of the sea

As reminder that life will continue, with or without me

So I must learn to see

So to lengthen my stay in this seat.

I prepare for a long pedal

In anticipation of a bronze medal

Because the only real gold awaits in heaven

So until then I pedal and repent

I'm a petal, and I've fallen off my stem

Has the sound of the beginning of a rebound. The speaker provides no specifics, but I would say this one takes place in the aftermath of a romantic disappointment that was quite painful. However, the bicycle ride is a metaphor for the determination not to be overwhelmed by the situation. The breakup may even have served as a lesson, as the last lines indicate a reordering of priorities in life. Liked very much the spare, lucid delivery in this offering..

Less rebound, more redemption. Otherwise, yes
