Fever Dream Part 2

Chapter 16

I wake up in what seems like a synagogue. I am laying on a table. My clothes have been exchanged for long, draped cloth. There are candles around me. My body feels weak. My head is pounding with a fever. I can barely open my eyes. 

In the distance, I hear talking.

"It seems like she's up."

"Grab a cool towel for her head."

A man has what looks like a book open wide. He is reading a line over and over again in a low whisper. 

Others work around him and cover my body with clay. The fever be comes so intense I can barley keep my eyes open. 

The hurt becomes all consuming and I begin to weep. The men continue to massage the clay into my body. The man continues to read from the book.

Eventually, it goes black again.
