My Prayer

My Prayer

A Poem by Miss Evans

My Father, Who Art in Heaven,

Hollowed Be Thy Name,

I pray You lead me,

And my brethren,

To be with You again.

My Father, Please forgive me,

For the mistakes I’ve made today,

And prevent me from again wandering astray.

My Father, I ask for meekness,

Keep my head bowed down;

Please remind me, those sins behind me,

Subvert me to the Crown.

My Father, Please protect me,

From the evils of the world;

Let my children, sons and daughters,

Prosper and live well.

Please remind me of my faults,

Not to judge based on others’,

Please help me to treat all,

Like my sisters and my brothers.

This I pray,

In Your Holy Name,

Amen.

Very well written piece. I really liked this prayer/poem. It matters not what religion, but this is an amazing supplication for all. In fact, I ask of this everyday, five times a day, except for me, it's 'My Lord' instead of 'My Father'.

There is one thing though that I find slightly disrupts the flow of the piece. In the beginning, you say 'thy' and then you switch to you. I think it would sound better of you stuck to one, either 'you' or 'thy'. But then again, this is just my preference. Feel free to ignore.

Anyways, this was a beautiful prayer.
Ameen (~aka Amen~).
Well written :)

what is prayer but a poem from the heart, expression on a higher level,
your words draw upon the infinite, of God and that which is all
expressed as an ode to life and sentiment, the imagery is beautiful,
the feeling is sanctimony, the form is pure poetry, excellent work ^_^

A twist on the 23rd psalm - I like it! The flow of the words and the humility made it quite a nice read. Thanks for writing it.
