Step Within

Step Within

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

this is me thinking and thinking and just writing... my train of thought.

"

I am the accumulated
antiquated mass of the unrelated
cumulus clouds formed by those who hesitated.

I’m the nails that hold the color to the sky
and the truth upon your lies,
with gathering of ill-fated
instigated ways to act with the feelings that you lacked.
Stacked up and brought to the ground
never thought to make a sound
that’s a fact.

I’m the necessary force
the dark one atop the pale horse
I’ll bring your mind back to it’s source
and put your thought back the on the course.
Behaviors to adjust
and situations to combust
and leave them all to each other and their lust.
But really if you truly must,
you can pull your hands up and form your disguise
to hide behind as I rip apart the world before your eyes.
I hope you’re ready.

I’m the one who taught you wrong as a child,
never mild and always seems to smile
and leave you behind to feel beguiled
all alone in the glass house without a stone
to throw and escape back to your own
devices and try not to listen to my infectious advice
this is the truth as it draws final breaths
before it leaps of this roof
and plummets towards the earth
and the ever expanding canal of birth
that leaves you dead without a hearse.
Next verse...
Cannot ever be conceived
far to relative for anyone to believe
I’m sure your quite relieved.
Now I’m off
to spread the horrible infectious cough
of existence that propagate like disease
that will grasp on until you decease
like an abandoned child left to freeze.
New ideas and fake  ID’s to be made
I never meant for you to be afraid
but when you journey deep into the cave
of your own conscious
and I’ll hold the torch so you wont be distracted
as you witness the darkness as it splits and twists
this world into two separate parts
the adventures and those scared of the dark.
not so smart anymore...
How much must I implore
for you to be more than you ever were before
if you would only look up from the floor
to the world just in front of you
maimed by the minds like those of mine
who know the truth about our kind.

I think it's dark, and I felt as though it were satan speaking. "our kind" ... spelled evil to me. Though there was an odd hint of encouragement ? ... which I haven't placed yet.

It says "you are one of us -- stop fighting it" (or stop denying it).

Very interesting indeed. Can't wait to see what part two has in store.

Great work!

Reads like stark reality in a nutshell; intriguing read and I like the last six lines, they are powerful.
