Goodbyes

Goodbyes

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

A sort of tribute to the late father of a local middle school student who had to go home early, while being picked up, his father was hit and killed by a drunk driver. R.I.P.

"

Momentarily surreal...
Instant shattered by the impending realization
of reality’s cruel intent.
He was taken right in front of the boy,
too soon for him to pass on.
But the world knows not such mercifully acts,
it cannot spare the lives of those who ask.
It had to be that day,
it had to be that time.
He had to go home early,
and it cost a man his life.
They made him wait.
If they had just let him go...
Precious moments reserved for use,
and they could have saved the man.
There ignorance had a cost...
The man was lost.
And he can’t be found.
The attempts to save him,
from his state of unrest...
They failed so hard...
Trying to save his life.
Someone acted just in time,
but after he got him out...
The man died that night.
Oh, he has gone now,
so far before his time,
his life erased...
right before his sons eyes...

Author's Note

D. Nelson
tell me what you think, but keep in mind the reality of the event and how heavy on some peoples hearts it is... i might not take light heated reviews very well. no offence.
