Amongst The Trees

Amongst The Trees

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

if you simply stand back and look at everything together... and compare it all, you realize how unimportant some of even the most significant issues in your life really are.

"

You always gazed at me with those beautiful eyes...

You kissed me one last time...

But I forgot to say goodbye.

and I’m left wondering,

oh, who am I?

I cant help but think,

how can I survive.

As I walk in the wilderness,

even the trees are mocking me.

I think they too are alive.

But they say they feel betrayed by man,

and I finally seem to understand,

I miss you still but my problems cease to stand,

in this place once free is now restrained,

they can never know why.

And they must be asking,

oh, who am I?

As birds are plucked high from the sky.

And there homes high in the tress fall to the ground,

and they must ask,

if nobody is around...

Does it really make any sound?

Will anybody ever know what they do to us?

Does anybody even care?

Why can’t we just get along?

In this world the tress will tell you that life isn’t fair...

You think your problems matter too,

but the forest would ask,

"oh, who are you?"

And if you tried to reply,

they only point you to empty sky above your head.

The trees that held the canopy now make the floor

that sits beneath your comfortable bed.

You always gazed at me with those beautiful eyes...

You kissed me one last time...

But I forgot to say goodbye.

and I’m left wondering,

oh, who am I?

I know now that it matters not,

we are all as one...

you share your pain with the nature you fought.

Why do you refuse to take a stand?

How can you have no demands?

Now I truly understand,

The effects of the disease that is man...

wow, deeply profound piece of writing here. it really is the minor things that make up life and not the rare significant things. the normal day, after all, is filled with the small trivials.

wise trees. they accept the unfairness and move on while most humans mope and complain about one little thing they're angry about.

beautifully written. =) i really enjoyed this. had a bit of philosophical feeling to it. ^^

I really like this one.
It truely shows the other side to "Man is wholeheartedly good".
I like how you ended this one.

oh yes one love setback will affects us all ,and i agree we are easily hurt so we being to cry and shed tears but if we look at the whole world around we will see the big very problem we are in ,yes humanity is in real trouble ,everything is in chaos ,yes we have to look deep into ourselves and around us ,the world is a mess and you just can not ignore that ,lovely writing i enjoyed it a lot

In this world the tress will .... - trees

We have been nothing but a blight on this world. I understand this wholly. I have several pieces myself that you might find interesting on the topic (as well as on the one between the two). "Theory of the Human", "Giants of the Earth", "Glyphs and the Horror THEY Bring", and "A Glimpse Into the Tail End of an Argument and the Big Bang Theory". Check them out sometime when you get a chance. Anyway, this was nicely done with a message of how insignificant our petty problems really are in relation to the way the world truly is. Kudos on a great piece.

An interesting take. Trees are sacrificed ... yet what an inspiration they make. Sad, illuminating, yet peaceful. Well penned.
