The Rain

The Rain

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

i wrote this a month ago and never posted it. i figured the time is right. here you go.

"
When I lost you,
I knew I would never feel that way again,
that my feelings for you had been thrown out,
reused,
recycled and spat back out at the other end.
So here I am looking for a girl to call a good friend.
Lets see if I can leave some stitches on the gaping hole
you left sitting openly rotting on the face of my soul.
And I here I am wondering,
baby, why would you do this to me?
But then I remember this isnt about me,
its about you.
Just like everything else you ever brought up really was too.
So I sit and try to learn to deal with the pain,
trying to use the key that love gave here for the gain.
And I came back so suddenly,
not to play your game,
not to retrieve the shame.
I wanna dance barefoot and chin out to catch the rain.
Because the water will rejuvenate my heart
to the state it was just before you and I were ripped apart.
You know just as I do that the rain can wash away all your pain.
Streak down your skin,
wash away your sin,
praise god,
praise love,
praise ugly.
Give thanks for the gift that the world sends,
and keep hoping that the rain never ends.

Poetry. Good poetry. Lets the reader hear our internal voice. Good job.

So very good. You know you have healed when you can forgive the other person for hurting you and pray for their healing also. Takes a wise soul to do so. Inner strength. Love this one. Good. Very good.

This hurts. I feel this because I've traveled
through this town.. ugh.

Very creatively written with a nice flow/rhyme...
and also...

very raw and real.

This is good Dillon! You truly do know how
to capture emotions with words!

Great work!!

i see no difference between adult love and younger love as you have put it here, the pain of love unrequited or broken is hurtful at any age, and you have made it a powerful read. i do like the positive ending too, remembering there is also a rainbow after every storm.. great write Dillon, as always :)
