BLOOD RED MOON

BLOOD RED MOON

A Poem by Digvijay Singh

Why is moon white?
Can it not take colour from rainbows
Yellow from a sunflower or mustard field
Or from an orange feathered butterfly
Can it not take blue of the vast moana
Or the green from a September's lea
..
Why is moon white?
I would love it to be red
As is the inside of my empty palm
I would love moon to be just blood red

I love the way your pondering about the moon sounds conversational. Good imagination & lots of visual imagery that's original-sounding. This is just my own quirk, but I think it's a cop-out to use the primary colors (yellow, orange, blue, green) instead of taking more time to select some interesting version of colors -- THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! Why limit yourself to the primary colors? That's just my opinion. I would prefer a crimson moon, or maybe an apricot moon, a verdant moon would be cool, or even an indigo moon. You may never see colors the same way again, after my little tirade *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

I googled it and here's what I found out. The Moon is not entirely devoid of color. Apollo astronauts describe its color as ‘brownish’. Careful study shows that the dark areas, or ‘maria’, display hints of blue or brown while the highland areas have faint traces of yellow, pink and pale blue. Interesting piece, my friend!
