Reunion.A Poem by D. L. Vaccaro
I'd drive a fifteen hundred miles a day,
Hitch rides on a dozen eighteen wheelers just to say, What I got inside, the secrets I've found, But when I get to your door, not a sound. What's on my mind to you right now, I'm speechless at the sight of you, like Wow. You always seem to take my breath away, I want to hug you for all of time, is that okay? My heart begins to shake, I let out a sigh, For just a moment pretend that I'm the only guy. Coming up for air, I got butterflies in my chest. Tomorrow we can worry about all the rest. I've found the place I want to stay, I promise you that I won't ever stray. This isn't our first rodeo, am I still your clown? Remind me of all the things I will never live down. Love you like you know only I can do. Whisper in your ear that I'd never f*****g change you. I'd never give you commands for you to obey, And I swear I'll always meet you halfway. I hold you close in my arms and I feel alive, When I'm with you, I feel my soul begin to thrive. Take my hand and lead me to where I belong, Just let me put these emotions down as song. Assuming I can find the words to convey, What you mean to me in like a thousand ways. I'm so grateful for the day that I first met you, When I looked at you, and you saw my blues, You are the only one to ever f*****g see me, Since then you've possessed my heart's key. If I could only find the perfect words to portray, When I look at you, its like fireworks and Christmas Day. I'd swim a thousand leagues just to get back, All the years we've wasted, and all we lack. The way your hair tickles my nose when we sleep, Every memory with you is all I want to keep. © 2014 D. L. Vaccaro |
