Belly Flop

Belly Flop

A Poem by D. L. Vaccaro

A chorus of laughter in silk sheets
Ta-da! Another pulled off deception
Birthing a wheeze and sandpaper skin,
Destroy every bit of my excessive ways.

Learning to age, in an age full of monkeys.
Jump rope and hopscotch on social networks.
All-I-Ever-Wanted held up like a carrot.
Sixteen carat hell, consume me entirely.

Bred to jump passenger cars,
Instincts transmit to cling tightly.
Evaporate the residue of a lost dream,
Mis-timed jumps result in belly flops.

Again, you nailed it. It can be interpreted in so many different ways, so many different paths and thoughts floating in my head. But amazing sir...brilliant.
