This MountainA Poem by Dianne S PenfoldAt the bottom of this slippery hill, Mud on my shoes, looking up The light fades behind the trees I'm treading up, not gonna stop. As the sun comes around again, Blinding my eyes but Its beautiful, One step further, stumbling I wont fall, I'm tearful. Cut and bruised in every way, Grabbing every branch and root, Pulling myself skyward Crawling out of ashes and soot. I am halfway there now, The top is where I'm meant to be, The journey is long, its not over. I open my eyes, I can see. The mountain is not easy, Its taking everything in me. I am not there yet but I know, Its mine, I am free.
