Vigilantes (title is a work in progress)A Story by DianeProulxThis is a collection of the notes on a story I am working on about Vigilantes. Any and all feedback and opinions is appreciated.
**We live in Reality
1, the reality we use to compare to all other realities. Each major decision or
choice in this reality (who won WWII, Russia discovering America first, ect)
creates an alternate reality where the opposite exists. This creates a conundrum,
where choices create multiple realities where new choices were never even
presented in this reality. The story of the Council of Vigilantes takes place
in Reality 1158, a reality like ours, the only major difference being this is a
reality where superhuman projects garnered results, and mutants and superhumans
are a part of society, but widely unaccepted.
Alpha
Kilo is sent to Syria to deal with a situation involving *TERRORIST GROUP*.
Wolf, Snake, and Smith infiltrate the terrorist cell. They learn of Prof Y's activities, involving attempting to mutate human genetic code to create "superhuman mutants", and his work for the cell.
As they close in on a plan to extract Prof Y, the plan doesn't go as planned, and the group is taken hostage.
Wolf - Refuses to say anything. Is tortured to the point of being unrecognizable. Is led to believe Snake and Smith were killed, as a form of psychological torture. After about one month of torture, Y injects him with a finalized form of his latest form of his "SuperSerum", injecting variants of mutants in his service into Wolf as well. Wolf is renamed to "Omega", and is kept under strict medical surveillance.
Snake - Refused to say anything, and is told the Wolf betrayed Alpha Kilo, and that the rest of the team had been compromised. Snake became cold after that, and refused to talk at all. Was tortured for one month as well, to the point of being unrecognizable, and Y injects him with the same form of SuperSerum, and different variants of mutants. Renamed Alpha, and kept under medical surveillance.
Smith - Refuses to talk to anyone but Y. Makes an unknown deal with Y, is injected with the SuperSerum, codenamed as Sigma. Follows Y around, learning of his plans, while adding to them. The two become close during the month, and devise a plan. Some of their closest associates are told where to meet to them in Canada, and the two extract the facility, *eventually* making contact with Trigger and Gizmo. Recoded as Sigma.
Trigger, Gizmo, Smith, and Y all extract the country, under guise that Smith and Y escaped alone, and Wolf and Snake were killed. They got out of the country, debriefed, and set up a bombing to take place on the old facility, which had become more violently active with the loss of Y's leadership.
Prior to the bombing, Omega realized there was a break in the schedule he had grown accustomed to. Something was different or was going to happen, and the change was when the opening he was waiting for would occur. The base is being relocated, intel says that the Americans are going to bomb this location. Wolf escapes during the pack-up, not hearing the muffled scream behind him. Omega comes across a humanoid covered in reptilian scales, and the pair escape, a few hours before the compound is turned into a crater.
The American government sends Gizmo and Trigger to extract Wolf, after he makes contact after escaping, and they meet at a pre-established rendezvous point. Wolf finds out Smith is still alive, and that he and Y extracted together, but that Y escaped custody after touching down on American soil. Smith was assigned to catching him. He explains to Trigger and Gizmo the experimentation he underwent, how Y was the one in charge of the program. The team comes to the conclusion that Smith and Y are working together, but with no proof, and have manipulated the American Government.
The end of this arc sees Wolf, Rick "The Reptile", Gizmo, and Trigger returning to American soil. The Government tells Wolf they'll look into his story, and confirmed that Y escaped Smith's custody after landing on American soil. They also explain Smith is an undercover, who couldn't afford to blow his cover, as Y was the most important objective on that case. Wolf is taken in to be tested on, to test Y's SuperSerum, and Rick "The Reptile" is taken in to have his mutagen tested on. The two become close while in the governments facility (Decoma Facility).
While
in Decoma, Omega finds out that Smith, also known as Sigma, due to his exposure
to the mutagen, has gone off radar undercover in a new mutant gang in Toronto.
He also learns that Y is working on 2 projects, one of which is coded as
"Project Alpha", the other of
which is coded as "Project Zeta". The CIA and CSIS had no clue where
the professor is, other than some connections to the mutant gang in Toronto,
known as the West Hill Kings. Omega also learns that the government/businesses
behind this whole mess had plans to bury the whole thing, as the profits were
high, and the embarrassment would be even higher if the truth came to
light…
Crime
had increased in the GTA, sometimes leading as far as Ottawa, the items stolen
always lab equipment, military equipment, weapons, biological chemicals, and
occasionally money heists. Crystal Meth had also become a real issue in the city recently, as a new chemist in town was producing the highest quality meth seen yet, even by the RCMP. Omega's group also noticed criminal activity, mostly
caused by the West Hill Kings, a crime ring that had recently risen up and come
across a lot of guns, men, and power, that they had also connected as being the
source of some of these thefts, and the small sale of the meth in the city. Omega set up a base in the city, and began
trying to infiltrate the gang, and to connect the Kings, the theft of equipment
and chemicals that related to mutant and superhuman experiments, the crystal meth, and Y and
SIgma. They tapped several members phones, and emails, and tried to learn the
location of any higher ups. All they could find were the low level drug
runners, enforcers, and dealers in the city, but no real connection to where
the meth was coming from, who supplied it, nothing, no connections to Y,
nothing. The gang was dark, and so was Y.

Samuel Tamil was in trouble. He owed money to some members of the West Hill King, and they were starting to look for him. He'd gotten let go from his job recently, fell out of sorts, began drinking and partying, and now owed money to the Kings. A lot of money. He had received a threatening call, and had received several texts. Then, a car started sitting around his house. He also noticed a second car one night, that almost seemed to be watching the first car… *The phone rang, and Samuel went to answer it…*

Omega
and Reptile sat, watching the Kings car. They knew a little bit of what the
group was planning tonight, but not the full extent. The group had set bugs in
several of the Kings dens, trying to find any connection between Y, the Kings,
or even to locate Smith. Instead, they found out about the Kings plans to deal with a young man over a large debt the young man owed. The group had
debated on intervening for several hours, prior to Omega and Reptile sitting in
the car on this chilly night. Reptile had started the debate, and Omega, free
from the military and imprisonment for the first time, decided to stand with Reptile, as he felt
it was the "right thing" to do. Trigger argued it drew unnecessary
attention to them, and that they were no affairs of theirs. Gizmo agreed with
Trigger on the unnecessary attention aspect, but also said the risk was worth
it for any information they could gain from the members involved. After all,
the head of this den, the guy who bought the dope, and was the only one to talk to the supplier, was going to be there. Omega
played the recording of the thug on his phone in his head. Omega's
thoughts were interrupted by the door opening, and a young man, identified as
Samuel Tamil, exited the door, holding a baseball bat. "You m***********s!" He
yelled, "Where is my sister?!" He charged.
