Patriots GatherA Poem by Diane LockardPatriots versus British - fighting for freedom....Patriots Gather
Whispering to each other, three Patriots appear
Crossing the rocky stream; vents of steam puffing from
The ground. A beaver dam and sycamore trees
Cloaked in darkness, foggy apparrtions.
Arrive at camp, everyone bustles about…
“British looking for our friends. We need to move out,
Roll the barrels to the wagons,” horses neigh.
Patriots gather, stars, pinpoints of light guide their way.
“We march for freedom,” in the days to come They win the battle and the fighting is done © 2017 Diane LockardAuthor's Note
