Waltzing in the Moonlight

Waltzing in the Moonlight

A Poem by Diane Lockard
"

Skaters - family, friends, a winter's night, warmed by a bonfire...

"

Starry nights, snow falls, a lacy curtain

Deer gather sheltered by the trees

Family and friends wearing ice skates

All bundled up, totter to the edge of the pond

Bonfire shoots red hot sparks to the sky

Occasional sound of snapping twigs

Laughter drifts from the skaters

Round and round, waltzing in the moonlight

Animals and birds watching, eager spectators….

All the elements of me missing home. It's impossible not to get caught up in the delight of such an atmosphere of winter. It makes me ache, then I feel its goodness and warmth in your words.

Love the imagery you conjure in the mind's eye.

It reads like a painting.
