She paced a rose upon his chest
As they laid her husband to rest. Tears flowed down her face. The coffin was lowered into place. Shots sounded loud and clear From the soldiers, standing near. Now, only the wind blows, Over the field where the flowers grow. © 2016 Diane Lockard
