Saying Good-bye

Saying Good-bye

A Poem by Diane Lockard
"

In memory of our loved ones...

"
She paced a rose upon his chest
As they laid her husband to rest.
Tears flowed down her face.
The coffin was lowered into place.
Shots sounded loud and clear
From the soldiers, standing near.
Now, only the wind blows,
Over the field where the flowers grow.

A sad scene from the imagery your words convey. A universal theme, with great flow, rhythm and rhyme.

Beautiful. A scene I've been witness to. I just visited my family graveyard last weekend.
