Burnout ~ California dreaming

Burnout ~ California dreaming

A Poem by Dianah
"

When reality hits you like a wet fish...head for the sea

"

The sex symbol crashed into her image
her heart beating louder than the bass drum.
the speakers vibrated massaging the madness
tomtoms told warnings as tomorrow comes

Too quickly the kit gets worn out, replacements
queue up so shiny with skins stretched tight.
She leaves like the autumn and rides the west wind
Big Sur is waiting in the moonlight.

She finds a cabin where Jack stoked her fire
the roar of the sea her only sound track
she sits up til dawn, the beach boys are calling.
The sex symbol crashed but never looked back.

Author's Note

Dianah
This started as a play on words but I am reading Big Sur by Mr Kerouac at the mo so it evolved. Going to stick it in a competition about desires. I always wanted to be a kit drummer, and see Big Sur, California but sex symbol, nah, people like you or hate you for the wrong reasons and even beautiful people have got to grow old.
