BACKSTAGE

BACKSTAGE

Backstage the scene is set

when the curtain falls

the actors disperse.

It's hard to tell where

reality rip holes

in fantasies verse.

A black velvet sky

crammed full of stars.

Is it just illusion?

A backdrop pierced

light shines through

lost in confusion.

Protagonists meet

then part again

after mumbling their lines.

I sit in darkness

in sacred silence

waiting to say mine.

Echoes of footsteps

hairs stand to attention

on my cold skin.

I turn to see nobody

except the body

I'm left in.
