16. The End

Chapter Sixteen: Raven

  As the sun rose everyone was already awake in the palace. We had talked to my mother about returning to our world until graduation. So that morning we stood at the water fall, about to go home. 

" Raven, My Son, graduate and come back quickly. We will all miss you." She said, hugging me

" And Jessie. Your parents would be proud. Tell you grandparents the truth of what happened, but only them." She nodded towards him and he nodded back in agreement

She casts her hands around the stone and in shook, then opened, leading back to our world. I looked at JJ and he took my hand. 

" Let's go." He says

We step through and when we open our eyes, we are standing under the water fall. I smile. It's good to be back. But I was nervous about what to tell everyone. 

" Don't worry Raven. I'll just tell them we were kidnapped and escaped." JJ tells me

I smile up at him and we go down the rocky edge of the falls. Our car is still hidden and untouched. I watch the familiar buildings of Kingston when we arrive. JJ drives up to his house and see's his grandparents care parked on the driveway. 

We get out and go inside. His grandparents are sitting on the couch looking at the news paper. When they look up there expression is astonished. 

" OH MY GOD!!! JJ! Raven!!!" His grandmother cries and runs to us 

She seats us on the couch demanding to know what happened to us and that everyone was so worried. 

JJ sighed and told them everything. About my mother in our dreams, the Dark Ones here, and everything about the 13th Century. And they actually believed us. 

" I knew it would happen sooner or later. I just thought we would know about it." His grandfather says

" How would you know?" JJ asks 

" Well... We brought your mother and father here, we wanted a modern life for you." His grandmother explains " And knew one day you two would have to return to that world because of the Dark Ones." 

His grandparents told us all night about my real parents and JJ's parents in the 13th century. It was amazing. Now,  it felt so unreal that we were here. It was odd, seeing modern day things and not old fashions castles.

When JJ`s sister got home she ran to him and hugged him, crying with happiness that we were both safe. The newspapers and tv were covering our made-up kidnapped story and how we escaped. 

His grandparents wanted us to stay home from school but we really wanted to go. Later on that night we went to my house and my parents were actually there. 

When we opened the door they stood up and looked at me. My mother`s eyes began to tear up and she hugged me tight. We told them the kidnapped story and she thanked God I was okay. 

They actually loved me, they cared about me. It never seemed like it since they were never around and if they were they acted like I was invisible. But that all changed now. They said they would be home more now. 

JJ spent the night and we got ready for school the next morning. Normal cloths and shoes. It looked so foreign. We walked to school and when we got there we hesitated for only a moment before going inside. 

Everyone turned and stared at us before rushing to us, asking how we were, how we escaped, and so many other questions. People were apologizing to me for how they acted towards me. 

Our friends pushed there way through the crowd and hugged us. They were being so mushy, telling us how they missed us and loved us. It was great. Everything was back to normal in a way. 

When we got to class our teachers were happy to see us. And when Lillian walked into the class room she came over to me, already blushing, but then, her eyes watered up. 

" Raven... I-I'm so... H-happy to see your okay... I was so worried about you..." She stammers 

I smile at her. " Thanks Lillian." 

She blushed and smiles. " Uhm... A-About p-prom..." 

I bite my lip. " I'm sorry Lillian, I'm going with JJ. He's my prom date." I tell her

Her eyes widen. " Oh... Okay..." She turns and sits at her desk. 

I look at JJ and smile and he smiles back putting his hand on top of my leg. When class began, II realize I'm happy to be back. But I do miss the 13th Century and can't wait to go back.

Prom Night

It's the night of prom and I am getting ready with JJ. We bought black tux's. I turned to see how he looked. It was great. I was so excited that we were going together. 

When we arrive and walk in together people smile and are happy to see us together. No one bothers us about being here together. Prom is a blast. Dancing, talking with friends, with you date. It's amazing. 

We get a photo taken of us, and with our friends as a group. When prom comes to it's last half an hour, it's slow dances. JJ takes my hand and holds me close to him, putting his hands around my waist and I set my arms around his neck. 

We sway to the music and talk. When a certain song plays, we realize this song was a song we once danced to together a few years ago. Because You Love Me. He looks at me and smiles. 

" It's our song Raven." He says 

" Yeah, it is." I reply returning a smile 

We dance in silence, just gazing at each other like a real loving couple. I am everything I am because he loves me. He helped me get through my rough times and stood up for me always. 

I look over his shoulder and see Lillian. She isn't alone, she's with Peter. He must have asked her to prom. That's good, now she isn't sad, she's smiling and having a good time. 

I turn my gaze back to JJ and he steps back, taking my hand and leads me outside onto the stone porch out in the middle of the school`s backyard.

" Happy to be here?" 

I nod. " Very happy." 

" Good." He whispers and leans down and kisses me 

I slid my hand up to the back of his head and kiss him back. He holds the kiss for quiet awhile. No one else is out here, even if there was, it wouldn't matter. 

When he pulls away he tells me he loves me and kisses me again, this time a little more intense. We stay out here for the rest of prom, just me and him, dancing to the slow music. 

The moon was full, and the stars were out. It was a gorgeous night like our first time in the other world. Cool air, a light breeze, and a beautiful night sky. JJ's calm eyes looking at me, his strong arms holding me close. A perfect night. 

As he leans down for another kiss and cherry blossom petals fall down around us. Landing on us and on the ground beneath us. 

Here our love will last forever.
