8. Run for Our Lives

Chapter Eight: Raven

" Okay, first things first, we have to get Zoey to Laura's house." JJ says while driving

"What?! No way! I can't leave you! We have no idea what's going on!" Zoey cries

" Zoey! I know what's going on! No questions! Your going to Laura's! I'm sure Laura's mother will let you stay." JJ replies feircly

 

Zoey doesn't reply, knowing she won't win this one. When we reach Laura`s, Zoey gets her suitcase and rings ther doorbell. Laura`s mom answers and Zoey tells her half the story. She invites Zoey in and that`s when we leave, making sure Laura's mom didn't see us.

 

" So, where are we going?" I ask

" Picton. It's the next town, we'll get a hotel there and figure out what we're doing.

 

I don't say anything else. I know he'll get us there safely.

I watch as we drive by houses i've known all my life, now we have to start over, and who knows where we will end up, how things will go on this bizzare 'adventure', all I know is i'm glad to be will JJ.

 

When we finally reach Picton we find a hotel and check in a room. We take turns showering. When I get out of the show JJ is studying a map of Ontario. We go over where we're going. He hasn't told me where we are going though.

 

I get up and walk to the window and look at Picton from there. It's quite nice. In the window reflection I see JJ come up behind me. He wraps his body around mine and puts his hand over mine.

 

" We'll be okay." He reassures me

" I know i'll be safe as long as im with you." I reply quietly, turning to face him.

 

JJ kisses my cheek and goes down to my neck. He wraps his arms around me and we fall onto the bed. He kisses me soft, but then harder. I get all hot as he kisses me. He runs his hand down my side and begins to unbotton my shirt. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer into me.  

 

Wait! We can't be doing THIS! We're on the run for our lives and we don't know why or where we are going!

 

I push JJ away and pull my shirt together. He looks at me confusingly.

 

" We can't do this now, we need to know what's going on and where we need to really go..." I tell him

He sits back on the bed. " Your right..."

 

When I go to bed that night, JJ stays up and calls Zoey. I assume she's freaking out because I hear him trying to calm her down. He tells her everything will turn out alright. When he eventually goes to bed it's around midnight.

 

Two hours later we recieve a loud awakening. Loud noises boom through the halls, people scream and run. We bolt out of bed and look out the door. This time there are more of the cloaked figures.

 

" We know they are here!!" One yells as he hoists the manager up into the air. We grab our bags and make a beline to the fire exit.

 

" Where are they!? Who was last to check-in!?" The figure bellows.

 

The manager shakily points to our room. The figures bang the door down in a second. The search the room but we're already outside and getting into the car. 

 

" What's going on JJ!? Did my mother say anything more than RUN?!" I questioned.

 

" No. But I wish she had of!" JJ replies, a little shaken up from what just happened.

 

I watch the road. I'm scared. I admitt it. I don't know what's going on and why. I want to ask my mother but I don't know how.

 

" Where are we going to go now?" 

 

" Belleville. The won't be able to track us there for long."

 

I want to ask who they cloaked figures are but I know he wouldn't know either. He's acting like he knows whats going on but I know he's only doing that to keep me calmer.

 

 

I fall asleep in the car and my mother immediatly comes to me.

 

" Sweetheart, I know you scared. I do not blame you for being scared."

 

I run up to her. " Mom! Why is this happening? What's happening!?" I ask franticly

 

She pulls me close to her and hugs me.

 

" Raven... My boy... I know this must be hard for you. Losing everything again. But I assure you it will be okay."

 

I look at her. " Just tell me what's going on and where JJ and I need to go, please!' I beg

 

" Go to the Realm of All. There, you will find someone. Someone who will tell you everything." I look around. I didn't see her mouth move, but I heard her voice.

 

" Yes. You have the gift."  She looks me in the eyes. " I knew you were the chosen one. Now go. The Realm of All is in Smith Falls."

 

Wait, what gift? Who's a Chosen One? I tried asking but like usual, I woke up before I could ask.

 

" Smith Falls." I said

JJ looked at me confused. " Huh?"

 

" We need to go to Smith falls." I told him. " My mother told me we have to go there to get to the Realm of All."

 

" What's the-" I cut him off

" The Realm of Alls? I don't know. She left before I could ask."

 

He nodded. " Okay, but we'll stop at Belleville for awhile first."

When we finally got to Belleville we went to the library and looked up books on certain types of realms.

 

We looked for hours, but didn't find anything about realms and Smith Fall or the Realm of All. Why would we?  And why would they have a book about it?

 

I let a sigh of defeat out. He put my head down on my arms. How will we ever find the Realm of All in Smith Falls? That night, back at our motel room, JJ flipped on the news channel.

 

"Raven! You might wanna come see this!!" He called

When I entered the bedroom our faces were on the news channel.

 

" Two male students from St. Patricks Highschool went missing over a week ago. We have no idea where they have gone. So if you see them, please, call us immediatly."

 

Then, our friends appeared on the screen, giving details of what we look like and our names. After that news broadcast they went to the story of the cloaked figures in the hotel we were at.

 

" Well, what do we do now? People will be looking for us, if we're found they're gonna bring us back to Kingsrton." I said

 

JJ smiled. " Well, their not going to find us." I shivered. oh great, I know what this means.

'Make-overs.'  I knew it...

" So what would you like done?" The hair-dressers ask JJ and I. Thankfully they didn't recongize us.

" I am not getting my haircut." I told JJ and he agreed.

We told them to do what they wanted but to not cut our hair at all.

 

An hour later they finished.

They did end up cutting his hair a LITTLE. We definatly looked diffrent than the pictures from the news. When we got outside our posters were all of the town.

 

" Oh wow..." I murmured

" Their making a HUGE deal about this." JJ said

 

" Hey you two!" A voice yelled

Oh no, were we found already?!

We tried to get away but the guy caught up with us.

" Have you two seen these two guys anywhere?" He asks showing us our poster.

 

" Uh, nope." JJ tells the man quickly

" Why are people making such a big deal? It's never happened before." I wonder

" Well, Jay-Jack's girlfriend Brittany is scared outta her mind and had her parents pay for all the flyers and neew reports."

 

' What  the hell!!! Brittany!!'

" Oh, I see. Well. Good luck." JJ closes the conversation and we leave.

 

" D****t! Stupid Brittany! I can't stand that b***h!" JJ curses when we get to the motel parking lot. " She can't even get my name right!"

 

I go over to him and take his hand. " Don't worry about it. They'll never find us. And everyone in school knows your not her boyfriend." I tell him

 

He sighs. " Your right... Let's just focus on finding the Realm of All..."

 

" We'll head for Smith Falls tomorrow."
