WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR

WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR

A Poem by DiamondNRough AKA Patty Rase Hopson

When you look in the mirror,

what do you see?

Do you see the different

shades of shame,

that everyone else sees?

When you look in the mirror,

what do you see?

Do you see the ignorance

that everyone else sees?

I bet you don't, because

your ignorance, tells you

to turn away! Just turn away

and you think it will all go away.

Ignoring your own reflection

in the mirror,

does not make your shame and

ignorance disappear.

When face to face

with others,

they see the true disgrace.

Turning away from the mirror

only improves the reflction for you.

All others see the REAL YOU!

When they turn away, remember

it is not because of the reflection in

the mirror they see.

It's the REAL YOU they choose

to leave.

When you look in the mirror,

what do you see?

"When you look in the mirror, what do you see?"
It's an interesting question. In this case, the person sees only what they want to see.
I guess most like to ignore their bad traits and present themselves the way they wish they were to others.
Mostly others do the same and are willing to fall for the charade, but it's always good to see through the facade.
Definitely an interesting write!

Interesting. I think most people do wear their true colors that can be seen quite easily if we are really looking :)

ooo nicely-stated. self-examination is most definitely important. i really liked the second-to-last stanza. "it's the REAL YOU they choose to leave." nice write.
