Memorial Day 2005

Memorial Day 2005

A Poem by DiamondNRough AKA Patty Rase Hopson

Memorial Day 2005

Memorial Day a day for family

a day for friends.

Our new friends a family of six

came over for a cookout

and swim with the kids.

Everyone splashing and jumping

and having fun.

All four parents right there among

it all.

My 12 year old daughter noticed a little one

that went under and didn't come back up.

She reached down and helped pulled him up

Momma, Momma she yelled out for me

holding the 5 year old's discolored head above.

I jumped out of the pool my husband reached in

we pooled him out and to the phone I ran.

His parents in hystericks and grabbing the other kids.

My husband started CPR

as I ran to call 911.

My daughter took the other kids into our house

they got on their knees and to GOD they all cried.

Mom and dad in the corner of our backyard

feeling helpless, holding each other as they prayed.

With 911 still on the line I kept begging her

how much longer? "Dear JESUS help us", we need them here now.

She promised me, my husband was doing a good job.

To encourage him to not give up, 911 was on the way.

Suddenly "Kie" started crying, his eyes opened wide

With GOD's help my husband put breathe

back into this small child's life.

Mommy, Mommy "Kie" began to cry.

What a beautiful sound... we all began to give praises.

Our praises were louder then the sirens of the 911 crew,

as we didn't even hear them as they  ran through our backyard and started doing what they know to do.

Don't ever think these things can not happen to you...This is based on a true story. Four sober adults all with in three feet of this little guy. It happenes so quickly. So take all water safety precaution because it can happen to you or someone you love.
