STRONG SHOES

STRONG SHOES

A Poem by DiamondNRough AKA Patty Rase Hopson

How would you like to trade me shoes

Have you noticed yet,I wear strong shoes?

When God sends you on a hard path

He always makes sure  your feet are

prepared with strong shoes intact.

Bet you'd like to at least borrow my shoes.

Your feet most be so cold and sore from

your hard core abuse and crimes.

My shoes keep me safe and allow

me to kick what ever gets in my way.

I think I'll keep these shoes for awhile

at least until we meet again face to face.

It is hard not to succumb to the desire to turn this into a discussion that has gone on from the dawn of communication, but I will... because even though there is a strength that I misread a little as arrogance of faith here, there is also the tone of temperance. There is a certain humility in the possible offering of the shoes to help another upon the next meeting. It reminds me of one of my favorite jokes about how God helps us, the one about the guy drowning - where three boats come, the guy tells them all he will be okay and shoos them away that his Faith will save him - he drowns and asks God why He did not save him. God says, "You idiot, I sent three boats." One never quite knows when they find themselves on that hard path, just how those strong shoes are going to appear... an excellent write.
