FLICKER OF LIGHT

This poem depicts unwavering resilience amidst silent battles of the mind.

Sitting on the branches of creativity
Catching sight of a landscape afar
The wind of inspiration sashayed my hair on my shoulders
Enjoying the glimpse of mental fantasy
In splits of milliseconds
My thoughts were interrupted by the presence of my worst enemy
The little voice which silences the sonorous echoes of optimism
The dark which competes with light for dominance
Looking blatant yet fierce

Trying so hard to resist its infernal presence
Drenched in the pool of wickedness
I fell into a quick trance
A stockpile of cards crumpling before me

Shudders ran down my spine
But, divine strength welled up within me
With fierceness and resolve
I peered into its bulging eyes with laser precision
Envisioning the abyss of cruelty at each glimpse
I said in plain words
“A candle is not lit and placed under a bushel
Neither is the moon hid under dense clouds
As the stars twinkle
So would my embers know no dim
You are the darkness and I am the light within you”.
