Embers of Hope

Embers of Hope

A Poem by Diamond _writes
"

This poem is a relatable experience which sheds light on navigating the harsh Realities of life with a beam of hope.

"
Born in the streets of penury and want,
Wrapped with wrecked swaddling cloth,
And with phlegm trickling down my nostrils,
We licked them as lollipop.

Working round the clock tirelessly without positive results,
With our hands red and sore,
Our pockets as dry as the deserts,
We hope for a better future.

Nestled in the warmth of mom’s embrace,
We drift into the wonderland where we forget our dire states,
And the aroma doling out the neighbour’s kitchen,
We yearn for a square meal.

Clinging on my bed looking keenly into the future,
Holding tenaciously unto our dreams,
Is the future all worth it?
Or is it just an illusion?
