Light

Light

A Story by Gabri

There are certain times and certain places where the light is perfect. It's hard to find in winter because most of the light is cold and unforgiving, but today I found forgiving light. At the top of my stairway is a small kitchenette. There is a doorway out of it that leads to a fire escape. In the door is a regular rectangle window. The way the sun rises, it floods through the window. If you happen to be on the stairs at the right time, you will walk up into gold. Each foot step you take will feel as if you are starting a new day. Each time you look up the morning will give you hope. Robert Frost says that nothing gold can stay.  I almost agree with him. But if you are the luckiest person on planet earth, you will strike gold more than once.

Stunning thought! It's incredible how much leeway for interpretation it leaves
